Houthis take responsibility for attacking Israel's army targets with drones

(MENAFN) Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for launching five drones at Israeli military targets on Wednesday evening, according to a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the drones targeted locations in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, and the Negev, asserting that the operation was “successful” and “hit the targets.”

In contrast, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that it intercepted a drone launched from Yemen before it could enter Israeli airspace. The IDF stated that no air-raid sirens were triggered during the incident.

This marked the second attempted attack by the Houthis on Israel within 24 hours. The day before, the IDF said it had intercepted a missile also fired from Yemen.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have been launching attacks toward Israel since November 2023, claiming solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
